Full unit of work for where we live. This unit explores the evolution of settlements in the UK and across the world. All lessons are suitable for 50 minutes to 1 hour of teaching time. Includes supporting worksheets for lessons - no additional resources are required. Most suitable for KS2, years 5 or 6.

All lessons have a starter and lesson aim. All PowerPoints in the same signature style. 

Lesson sequence:

3 - Where should we build?
4 - Why do settlements change over time?
5 -Burgess and Hoyt model
6 - How is the High Street changing?
7 – What is a favela?
8 - How is London changing?
9 – GIS settlement change
10 – Green and brownfield sites

Also includes Geography Literacy mat and Geography Numeracy/Map Skills mat.

- Human geography, including: types of settlement and land use, economic activity including trade links, and the distribution of natural resources including energy, food, minerals and water

- Use fieldwork to observe, measure record and present the human and physical features in the local area using a range of methods, including sketch maps, plans and graphs, and digital technologies
